Description

The ER20’s are reusable ear plugs for noise protection. They are also called noise suppressors. They are ideal for noisy work environments, going clubbing, going to a concert or as shooting ear plugs. They are easy to clean and can be reused over and over again if they are looked after. We have two sizes. One size for small ear canals and children and adult size.

 What is Attenuation?

Attenuation is a generic term which refers to the reduction of strength of a signal. In this case the ER20 reusable ear plugs reduce the noise of the environment you are in by 20 decibels.

 Flat response

Generic noise suppressor ear plugs usually reduce high frequency noise more than others. The ER20 reusable ear plugshave a flat response which means they filter noise in a similar way to our ears. This means that when you use these ear plugs you can still hear environmental sounds but still benefit from the noise protection that they offer.

Tinnitus and hearing protection?

Reducing natural external sounds can make the perception of tinnitus worse. The flat response of the ER20’s still allows natural environmental sounds through therefore making them ideal for someone who suffers from tinnitus.

It is important to protect our hearing from unsafe noise exposure for several reasons. Our hearing naturally depreciates as we live our lives making hearing difficulties in middle and old age commonplace. Reducing your exposure to unsafe levels of noise will preserve your natural hearing ability for longer staving off hearing difficulties later in life.

Many people go to concerts and might experience for a limited period of time afterwards and their hearing returns to normal after a few hours or a couple of days. Prolonged exposure to noise at unsafe levels damages your hearing and, in some cases, it does not return to normal. Exposure to a loud noise can damage you hearing irreversibly the first time you experience it.

Sensorineural hearing loss is the leading cause of tinnitus ahead of stress and head trauma. The leading cause of sensorineural hearing loss is noise exposure. Looking after your hearing makes you less likely to experience tinnitus. If you already have tinnitus damaging your hearing or damaging your hearing further will reduce external sounds heard by your ear. This can further exasperate tinnitus symptoms.
